Southwark’s Memorial Mass will take place at 10.30am on 11 November at The Holy Family church in Croydon (further details below). November is an important month for the Church and for our community as we celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Days. November is a time of remembrance which gives us the opportunity to pray for our departed loved ones and reflect back on their legacy. If you would like to do something special to celebrate their lives, you can set up a candlelight fund in their memory.

What is the Memorial Mass about?

CAFOD’s Memorial Masses happen every year in November across England and Wales and offer parishioners, volunteers and our wider community an opportunity to get together and celebrate the lives of those we have lost. Memorial Masses are hosted thanks to the hard work and dedication by our wonderful community of volunteers.

2016-10-09-09-29-34We are immensely blessed by the generosity and dedication of our supporters. Sadly, many of our supporters over the years have now passed away and our Memorial Masses also allow us to pay a special tribute to our supporters in order to mark our appreciation for their years of kindness and honour their memory.

Thinking about the people we lost can be a difficult and painful experience. Memorial Masses allow you to celebrate the life and spirit of your loved ones in a positive way and find peace, surrounded by a community of faith and brothers and sisters in your community.

A Memorial Mass is a special kind of service. During Mass, we present the Book of Remembrance which has the names of supporters and community members who have sadly died during the year. There is still time to add a loved one’s name to the Book of Remembrance and make sure we hold them in our prayers.

There are two ways to go about this. You can do this online by emailing us at remembrance@cafod.org.uk, or by phone call on 020 7095 5348. One of our volunteers will be happy to help and add the name of your loved one to the book.
