With just over a month to go, it’s time to get ready for Family Fast Day. Join us for a briefing and find out more about what you can do to change lives with CAFOD’s help.

CAFOD’s 2018 Family Fast Day will be taking place on Friday 5th October. On Family Fast Day, you are invited  to have a frugal meal such as soup and donate the money you have saved to help your brothers and sisters in need.

Whether it’s holding a soup lunch or fundraising event in your parish, giving a short talk at Mass or spreading the word about Family Fast Day in your community, there is a lot you can do to help!

Join us for a briefing to be ready for Family Fast Day. During the briefing, you will hear more about CAFOD’s latest actions and receive all the information you need in order to be prepared for Family Fast Day.

At Family Fast Day we seek to make changes to people’s life. To help you prepare for this year’s Family Fast Day, we have scheduled some briefings. A briefing is a time for you pray with others for CAFOD’s partners and eradication of poverty in the world, to hear about CAFOD’s work with an international speaker, meet other volunteers and keep hope.

Family Fast Day briefing in Central London 

Saturday 8th September – 10:00 -13:00 – CAFOD Head Office, Romero House, 55 Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7JB.  (Optional : stay and eat your packed lunch with us)

During this briefing we will pray, take time to understand CAFOD’s projects and partners and how the money you raise change lives. You will also have the opportunity to attend a 1-hour workshop on one of those themes:

    Uganda in-depth : Mark Chamberlain, who is our guest speaker on the day, will tell you about his experience visiting our overseas communities, and how your support is making a difference.

  • How to do social media: our speakers will introduce you to CAFOD’s social media and tell you more about how to spread the word.
  • Family Fast Day for new volunteers: an introduction to Family Fast Day for our new joiners.
  • New climate campaign: you will hear more about CAFOD’s work to tackle climate change.
  • How to deliver a Short Talk: John Sibley will give you tips and help you to practice.

Family Fast Day briefing in Bexleyheath for Lent 2018

The briefing day in Bexleyheath will include guest speakers Barbara Davies. She will share her experience of working with our partner communities in Colombia. Join the day to find out more about the important work CAFOD is doing in Latin America.

During the briefing we will also talk about the mechanics of Fast day and discover Longara’s story who is the centre of this year’s talk at mass.
