Ann Milner is a CAFOD volunteer who has decided to respond to Pope Francis’call to embrace refugees. She is inviting us to take part in the LOOP walk and help add miles to CAFOD’ Share the Journey walk around the world
Earlier this year, Pope Francis launched his Share the Journey campaign. This is to show support for the millions forced to flee their homes be it through war, persecution, national disaster or poverty.
In support of the campaign, CAFOD is asking us all to help walk ‘around the world’, a total 24,901 miles! Every step we take counts!
Our Lady Immaculate and St. Andrew Hitchen is organising a pilgrimage around the London Outer Orbital Path. The LOOP is 152 miles of well-marked paths weaving through the capital with hopefully something to suit everyone. There will be a series of prayerful walks taking place through June.
Where and when is the walk taking place in Southwark?
Wednesday 6 June: Petts Wood to West Wickham Common for 9 miles
Thursday 7 June: West Wickham Common to Hamsey Green 10 miles
Friday am 8 June: Hamsey Green to Couldson South for 6 miles
Friday pm Couldson South to Banstead Downs for 4.5 miles
Other walks will take place around the LOOP until 23 June.
How can I join?
To find out details about the remaining LOOP walks, where we meet for each walk and to book your place:
- email firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember every step counts and you can check how many miles we have walked already on the Share the Journey online totaliser and watch a new Pope Francis video . The LOOP miles each one of us walks will be added to the totaliser.
Other ways to play your part in Share the Journey
As part of Share the Journey, Pope Francis calls on us as Catholics to urge world leaders to act with courage and compassion, to put the human dignity of people on the move at the heart of two crucial UN ‘compacts’. These will be agreed in September of this year. Here are other ways you can play your part in the campaign.
